Rural businesses will get access to business broadband services delivered by wireless technology thanks to a partnership between Lincoln-shire County Council and BT.
Many areas used to have problems accessing higher speed broadband services because of the length of telephone lines, but the use of wireless technology has overcome these.
Now the council is also exploring ways of working with BT to ensure the latest technology delivering ad-vanced broadband over the longer telephone line lengths is used as soon as possible.
Lincolnshire is the first county in the country where an advanced broadband service has been deployed on such a widespread geographic scale.
All the county's telephone exchanges, including four that were deemed uneconomic, have been broadband enabled through a strategy of encouraging users to register for broadband services.
Barry Singleton, executive county councillor for corporate development."Working with BT, we have been able to address some of the issues that are associated with rurality and broadband accessibility to ensure that Lincolnshire is at the forefront of this technology and thereby making broadband access available to as many people in the county as possible."
