A STAMFORD business organisation was given a first-hand glimpse into the world of the RAF.
Stamford Chamber of Trade and Commerce mmbers went to RAF Wittering for a tour of the base, which included the air traffic control tower, bomb disposal unit and operational areas. The group also enjoyed a lunch in the officers' mess and was given a talk on the history of the base. Members were also able to sit inside the cockpit of a Harrier jet.
Chamber secretary Sandra Pryor said everyone who intended was impressed by what they saw. "They gave us a good insight into how the base affects the community and what the people at the base do," she said.
