A BUILDING firm hopes to complete a move by the end of the year.
E Bowman & Sons of Stamford is leaving its premises in Cherryholt Road, the company's headquarters since 1905.
The two-acre site has outline planning permission for a housing development and sale talks are at an advanced stage. Bowmans says the site
is too small and restrictive for modern use.
It has not yet revealed where the new location will be except that it is just outside Stamford and will need planning permission before the move can go ahead.
A Bowman's spokesman said the new location would have better access, state-of-the-art workshops and eco-friendly offices.
The Cherryholt Road premises are home to 34 craftsmen, tradesmen and office staff, and a further 50 craftsmen are based on project sites.
Bowman's, which has an annual turnover of more than £10m, has also announced it is increasing the size of its board.
Masonry director Steve Ankin and Kris Kosmaczewski, surveying director and head of the insurance department, have both been appointed to the board.
Kris is a qualified chartered surveyor with more than 20 years' experience.
In 2007 Kris helped oversee a 70 per cent increase in business at Bowman's and his department, working with major UK insurers, has helped hundreds of people return to their homes in East Lincolnshire after the floods last summer.
Steve joined Bowman in 2006 and has been involved in the firm's most recent high-profile project, the two-year £2.8m restoration and renovation of Apethorpe Hall for English Heritage.
Bowman's managing director Trevor Jackson said the appointments were a "nod to the future" and a "clear statement of our desire to continue growing and commitment to further enhance Bowman by fully embracing new ideas, talent and ways of working.
Steve and Kris join Mr Jackson on the board along with contracts director Paul Gibbins, finance director and company secretary Graham Scotney and chairman Peter Loft. Long-standing director David Espin is now a part-time consultant with the firm, and relinquishes the masonry director title to make way for Steve.
Bowman's employs 75 people in Stamford with a further 25 at its sister company Bowman (Cambs), in Werrington, which has an average turnover of £4m.
