A Stamford florist is featured in a full colour flower book that went on sale nationally this week.

The book – Flower Shops and friends, a year's journey around England's flower shops – features Miss Pickering of Stamford for the month of March and features other attractions around the town to give the reader a feel for the area, including the aw
ard winning Olive Branch pub at Clipsham.
Shops throughout England are featured in the book, which excludes London: "Many compilations on flower shops concentrate almost exclusively on London," said author and photographer Sally Page. "I decided in my book to celebrate the exquisite florists that are scattered around the rest of England from Dartmouth to the Lake District."
Miss Pickering's Floral Emporium was opened in St Paul's Street, Stamford, two years ago by Simone Pickering, 33.
A former pupil at Stamford Girls School, Simone worked in medical sales and in the food industry before joining the staff of Wild at Heart florist's in Notting Hill, London.
"It was always something I wanted to do," she said. "I had just come back from working in France, and I worked at Wild at Heart for two years before returning to Stamford and opening my own shop."
