WITH concerns for our environment increasing, one business is determined to show people how they can be greener and save money.
Bourne-based energy savers HIP Online is backing the Mercury's Let's Go Green campaign as we urge people to do their bit to tackle global warming and pollution.
The company works to help compile information for households and businesses on their energy use.
HIP, which stands for Home Information Pack, was formed last year by Carl Harvey, of Delaine Close, Bourne. With a background in engin-eering, Mr Harvey previously worked as a home inspector surveying properties.
He formed HIP to offer guidance packs for customers outlining how energy efficient their homes are and what people can do to stop wasting electricity and gas.
Mr Harvey, 44, said: "I'm not wholly sure about global warming but I don't think it's worth taking a chance. We have to do something about it.
"Twenty-eight per cent of the UK's carbon emissions come from our homes so it's a good place to start and it's great if it saves people money."
One of the ways the company helps households is by producing an Energy Performance Certificate which measures the output of a building's energy, including carbon dioxide emissions.
Government regulations require the certificate to be produced for all homes marketed for sale after December 14, 2007. Once a review is carried out, the company will look to provide assistance on how a business or home can cut their bills and help the planet, with various measures outlined. To find out more, go to
