Ambulance station could be created at Market Deeping under revised plans
An ambulance station should be created in Market Deeping as part of revised plans by East Midlands Ambulance Service.
The service, known as Emas, launched a consultation in September on a proposal to replace its existing 66 ambulance stations with 13 central hubs and 118 community posts and standby points.
However, following that consultation and a series of workshops with staff, councillors union representatives and patients, Emas is now proposing to create 11 central hubs, 16 stations and 108 smaller community ambulance posts.
Under the new proposal, the 11 central hubs would be located at Grantham, Leicester, Kettering, Boston, Lincoln, Northampton. Derby, Chesterfield, Mansfield, and Scunthorpe, Nottingham.
The 16 smaller stations would be located at: Market Deeping, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough, Grimsby, Gainsborough, Louth, High Peak, Worksop, Skegness, Newark, Eastwood, Ashbourne, Sleaford, Ashby de la Zouch, Loughborough, and Hinckley.
The stations would only contain rest facilities with some located in existing GP practices or fire stations.
Under the new Emas plans, ambulance stations in Ryhall Road, Stamford, South Road, Bourne, and Station Road, Oakham, would close. Nearly 1,000 people in Bourne signed a petition against the closure of the station in Bourne.
