STAMFORD harpist Eleanor Turner is collaborating with hiphop dancer Lizzie Gough on a new show to be premiered in Stamford on February 10.

Eleanor, pictured right, recently won an “Inspire” award from the Musicians Benevolent Fund which has helped fund her current project Elusive Symmetry, which will feature a solo dancer with classical and hip hop music by Eleanor alongside Alan Thomas.

Lizzie has starred in shows such as Blaze and Some Like It Hip Hop in the West End, was a finalist in 2010 So You Think You Can Dance on the BBC, has toured with Take That, danced in numerous pop videos and is currently judging on CBBC’s Alesha’s Street Dance Stars.

Alan Thomas is an internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer who lives in Leicestershire.

Eleanor says the show is based on the complex graphic designs of Dutch artist MC Escher, expressed through the music and Lizzie’s unique choreography, with original tracks performed live by herself and Alan, along with pre-recorded string quartet, electronics and beats.

Local artist Alice Lynch has designed animations and the poster for the show.

Eleanor said: “It’s a totally original concept and will be intriguing, entertaining, thought-provoking and fun!

“Lizzie’s dancing has gained her millions of fans worldwide and she mixes locking, popping and jazz styles with serious flexibility and a wonderful flair for expressing different characters.

“As she’s so popular with the youngsters too, the tickets for children are just £4 to encourage as many children as possible to come to the show.”

Eleanor has had a busy past year, getting married and with a baby due on March 31.

“I’ve been working my socks off doing the usual concerts and planning a big tour but I’ve had to have a bit of a break from carrying heavy equipment around,” she said.

The show, suitable for ages six and above, is at Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre on Friday, February 10, at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 (£8), under 16s £4 and are available from the box office on 01780 766455.

It is also at The Y Theatre, Leicester on Friday, February 24, at 7.30pm. For details call the box office on 0116 255 7066.
