Hundreds of pupils at Oakham School have been lending a helping hand out and about in Rutland as part of the school’s autumn Service Weekend.

Over a long weekend, the pupils from Oakham School’s Voluntary Action group, took part in a host of different activities, helping in the local community.

Activities included raising money for the children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent by bag packing at a supermarket and entertaining patients at Lakelands Hospice in Corby.

On Monday 170 pupils assisted with gardening projects at Langham Primary School and Brooke Hill Academy as well as volunteering at Rocks by Rail and helping with a project at the Learning Farm at Manor Farm. A group of volunteers helped clear the overgrown graveyard at Braunston Church.

The youngest pupils at the school have been enjoying a day of living history, in the company of a group of modern day Vikings.
