Obituary: June Dunkel

June Dunkel

A SERVICE of Thanksgiving for the life of June Dunkel took place at the Abbey Church of St Peter and St Paul, Bourne, Father Chris Atkinson officiating. John Saunders was organist.

June, of Kingsway, Bourne, died at Peterborough City Hospital, aged 77.

Daughter of Tom and Madge Herd, she was born at Hurdletree Bank, Holbeach Fen, and attended Holbeach School.

On leaving school she worked in a shoe shop in Holbeach where she met her late husband, Hans.

They were married in 1951 at Holbeach Register Office and their son Kelvin was born in 1952, but tragically died in 1987.

Later they moved to Bourne where Hans worked for BRM as a universal grinder.

June enjoyed travelling in this country and abroad, and also visiting gardens and garden centres and spending time in her own garden with lovely plants and fish ponds.

Family mourners included: Ruth Maltby, Paul Maltby (representing Angela and James), Horst, Christa, Evie and Bianca Dunkel, Ingrid and Helmut Martell, Lisa Pickering, Angela Coward - family represented: Donald and Janet Allwood, Evelyn and Ron Arbon, Bryan and Janet Herd, Arthur Herd.
