40th rural show will be one of best yet

BILLED as A Celebration of Rural Life, the 40th East of England Show is at the Alwalton showground just outside Peterborough this weekend (June 14 & 15).
Today is Free Farming Friday with free entry. The emphasis is on agriculture, with the main day for livestock classes, farm awards presentations and the final of the schools food challenge.
Saturday and Sunday will see the main arena entertainment – with The Dancing Diggers JCB stunt team, the Royal Artillery display team and The Devil's Horsemen. Celebrity chefs James Tanner and Lesley Waters will be cooking up treats and the Peterborough International Orchid Show will be held.
On all three days main attractions include an indoor food hall, more than 400 trade stands, an equestrian village, a country sports arena, a farmers' food court, lifestyle and fashion shows, a motor show plus classic cars, steam and vintage machinery and a children's country trail.
Friday evening's concert stars The Lounge Lizards while Boney M will headline on Saturday.
Gates open at 8am, parking is free and admission on Saturday and Sunday on the gate is £14, seniors £11, child £6.50, 2+2 family £28. Tickets are cheaper pre-booked on 0845 450 6425.
