Admire some art at Open Studios

RUTLAND Open Studios continues this weekend (June 28th) with 78 artists taking part.
Among them is Alan Oliver whose paintings are on show at his 10 Stamford Road, Oakham studio from 10am-5pm.

o promising young Rutland artists are holding a joint exhibition of their work at the Victoria Hall Gallery in Oakham from Thursday to July 10. Classical v Contemporary features Clinton Croson, 27, who specialises in oils on canvas and Nik Ellis, 23, who uses stencils and spray paint. Clinton is best-known for huge canvasses with highly personal themes. In contrast, Nik explores the tactile nature of paint and experiments with colour combinations. Opening hours are Mon-Sat 10am-4pm, Sun 2-4pm.

Three artists – Vilma Nyss, Ann Smith and Barbara Taylor-Harris – have an exhibition of paintings and photographs at Oakham's Victoria Hall Gallery until Wednesday. Open daily 10am-4pm, Sun noon-4pm.

A new arts cafe at the Rural Training Centre at Owston near Oakham has an exhibition by Great Easton Art Club until July 11. Open Mon-Fri 11am-4pm.

Oakham's Catmose Gallery has its Final Year Show of local college students' GCSE artwork until July 12.

A display of artwork inspired by Leonardo da Vinci will be in the Leonardo Centre at Uppingham School this weekend.

Uppingham's Goldmark Gallery has an exhibition by Scots/Italian artist Eduardo Paolozzi.

A summer exhibition by the Guild of Fine Artists is at Stamford Arts Centre until June 28th.

TWO Corby Glen artists – Liz Partridge and Elaine Wilson – have an exhibition of their paintings at the Willoughby Memorial Trust Gallery in the village. Plants, Places, Shapes and Spaces opens on Wednesday and runs to July 30. Opening hours are Tuesday-Sunday noon-5pm.
