Another week of fun at Oakham Festival

June 27th: Oakham Festival continues with Rutland's Got Talent at Rutland College from 7pm to 9pm and the festival orchestra concert with Oakham School Symphony Orchestra in the school chapel at 7.30pm.
Uppingham Fringe has Don Pasquale from the Garden Opera Company in the grounds of Uppingham School at 8pm with picnics welcome and there's a performance of Samuel's Head On My Table from Boy In The Bubble Performances at The Falcon Hotel at 7.30pm.

SATURDAY 28

Oakham has a Writing School Leicester short story workshop with Bead Roberts at Rutland County Museum at 2pm; Rutland Choral Society with Midsummer Madness at the Methodist Church 4pm, a talk by Lars Tharp – Oakham On A Plate, at the castle 7.30pm, Honk, a play from Jerwoods in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre 7.45pm, Jive Night with The One Eyed Cats at the Victoria Hall 8pm and Elegies For Angels, Punks & Raging Queens, a cabaret show at QET at 10.15pm.
Uppingham has Sympathy For The Devil, historian & novelist Ross King talking about Machiavelli, Uppingham Theatre 7.30pm.

SUNDAY 29

Oakham has Honk at the QET 7.45pm, followed by Elegies For Angels at 10.15pm while it's Uppingham Feast in the Market Square from noon with Martin Castrogiovanni of Leicester Tigers opening The Italian Job-themed event with Minis, food, film, music and dance. Uppingham School Symphony Orchestra will give a free concert in the theatre at 7pm.

MONDAY 30 JUNE

Uppingham has The Cage, a one-act play about Elizabeth Fry in the parish church at 6pm followed by Flotsam & Jetsam, a flower demonstration by Nick Grounds at Uppingham Theatre 7.30pm. Oakham has performances of Honk and Elegies as above.

TUESDAY 1 JULY

Uppingham has Scots band Blazin' Fiddles in the theatre at 7.30pm while Oakham has Postcards On The Edge, saucy entertainment from duo Stoolpigeon at The Wheatsheaf 7.30pm plus Honk and Elegies at QET as earlier.

WEDNESDAY 2

Oakham has comedian Jeremy Hardy in the Victoria Hall 8pm, a Big Band Bonanza in the festival marquee 7.30pm and Pinter's Briefs, two intense one-act pieces at QET 7.45pm. There's also a lunchtime concert – see Music section. Uppingham has The Count – an evening of Italian wine, history and culture in the theatre 7.30pm.

THURSDAY 3

Uppingham has vocal ensemble The Sixteen with Music From The Sistine Chapel at Uppingham School Chapel 8pm with pre-concert talk plus singer songwriters Kevin Lee and Dan Baxter at Don Paddy's 7.30pm. Oakham has Big Screen Karaoke at The Merry Monk 7.30pm and Pinter's Briefs at QET 7.45pm.

NEXT WEEKEND

Shoo Shoo Baby with Delicious and The Collegiate Brass Ensemble at Uppingham while at Oakham there's An Evening of Edwardian Elegance & High Class Hanky Panky, J'Oakham comedy night, Oakham Choral Society concert, the festival ceilidh, a Rutland Belle cruise and Oakham Parade & Fun Day.
