SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4 - Apple tastings, apple produce displays, apple history and apple games will be part of the experience of Stamford Apple Day 2008 at the Arts Centre from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
This is the 5th Stamford Apple Day, which is held as part of an annual national day to promote the English fruit and help re-introduce it to orchards and gardens.
Take along your own apples for identification and receive growing information from experts. Apple juice will be on sale, there is a children's poster competition and a display on beekeeping and honey.
The event is organised by Stamford Community Orchard Group who are hoping to rediscover 'lost' apples from at least 44 varieties that were once grown in the Stamford area. About 2,000 people attended the event last year.
