THE Battle Proms at Burghley House is on Saturday July 12.
Organisers say it is the ultimate classical picnic proms with Spitfire, can-nons, cavalry and fireworks!

It is the only concert in the world to fire 193 live cannons to music!

The Battle Proms Concert looks set to be something special combining
top class musicianship, Spitfire air displays, fireworks and Napoleonic cavalry displays with a rousing display of 193 live cannons fired to music. And all this in the wonderful grounds of the Burghley House.

As well as cannon fire lifting the volume of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, you will be treated to the unique performance of Beethoven's Battle Symphony which he scored for 193 cannons!

JSL Productions rises to this challenge using replica Napoleonic cannons and a vintage field gun.

The New English Concert Orchestra are preparing for a classical music spectacular with pieces such as the first movement of Dvorak's New World Symphony and Elgar's Cello Concerto with 19 year old soloist Matthijs Broersma.

Add to this an incredible Spitfire Air Display, the daring skill at arms displays and musical rides by the courageous Napoleonic Cavalry and even a traditional fairground for children and there is something for everyone!

The soprano soloist Denise Leigh is joined by the acclaimed tenor Nicholas Ransley as they sing beautiful songs, arias and duets. During the second half look out for a magnificent firework display which lights up the night sky during the proms finale.

The Battle Proms supports the charity Combat Stress: The Ex Services Mental Welfare Society which cares for men and women with psychological injuries caused through service to their country.

Tickets for adults £28, children under 16 £14 and under fives are free. Call the ticket information line on 01432 355416 or visit www.battleproms.com

Tickets are also available from Stamford Arts Centre.
