Summer holiday events and activities over the next week...
Popular dance teacher Jem will be giving hip-hop lessons to children. A one-hour class starting at midday on Thursday August 21 will be run by Jem, who gives up-tempo street dance lessons to youngsters. The session, which will be in
the ballroom of Stamford Arts Centre, will incorporate the latest dance moves and promises to be a fun class. It costs £3.50 and is open to children between the ages of seven and 15. To book visit www.stamfordartscentre.com or phone 01780 763203.

Barnack School has a Home From Home holiday club from Aug 18-22 and Aug 26-29 for children aged 4-11. The cost is £10 for a half day or £20 for a whole day – 8am-6pm. More details from the playleader on 07936 535527.

Bourne's outdoor swimming pool at the Abbey Lawn is open daily throughout the summer holidays. There are also special fun sessions with inflatables.

Peterborough Lido is open throughout the holidays from 9am-8pm with early morning swims on Sundays from 7.30am.

Stamford Arts Centre still has a few places for Movie Makers weeks for young people aged 8-17. This year's theme is Treasure Camp and the location is Shacklewell Hollow. A week costs £70. Book all these on 01780 763203.

Introduction to birdwatching classes for children are being run by the RSPB at Top Lodge, Fineshade Wood (off A43) on Wednesdays at 10.30am. Costs £2 per child. Booking is essential – 01780 444691.

Summer drama week at Stamford Arts Centre from Monday August 18 to Friday 22, 10am to 4pm for children aged eight to 12. Places cost £60 and children should take a packed lunch and drinks. Performance for parents on Friday in the arts centre ballroom from 3pm. To book call 01780 763203

Uppingham Community College has sporting fun for boys and girls aged 5-11 for two more weeks of the school holidays. Sports on offer include football, basketball, tag rugby, mini hockey, athletics, kwik cricket and rounders. Daily activities run from 10am-3pm and the cost is £35 a week or £8 a day. Tallington Lakes has fun activity weeks for children aged 7-16. Join in for a day or a whole week. Mondays it's team games & kayaking, Tuesdays climbing & team games, Wednesdays water games & raft-building, Thursdays orienteering, abseiling & team games, Fridays kayaking and water games. Oakham's Vale of Catmose College has free family activities in the gallery from Tuesdays to Saturdays. Details – 01572 722286.

Family Discovery Days are being held at Ferry Meadows park on the outskirts of Peterborough on Wednesdays from 10am-noon and are suitable for children aged 8-12. Meet at visitor centre. Book on 01733 234443.

Spalding's South Holland Centre has a summer youth theatre week for children aged 8-16, working on Grease. The week runs from Mon August 18-Fri 22 9.30am-4pm and cost £70. Details – 01775 764777.

Grantham's Guildhall Arts Centre has Stop Motion animation workshops on Thursday August 21 and Friday August 22 from 10am-4pm for age 9-16. Details on 01476 406158.
