....learn how to throw together a culinary delight when the cupboard is almost bare.
You know the feeling: it's getting towards the end of the month, pay day is still a week away and there's hardly anything left to eat in the house.
Well, starve no longer, as Cooking by Numbers (www.cookingbynumbers.com) is here to help you cook up
a veritable feast from the scant morsels of food that inhabit your fridge and cupboards.
All you have to do is tick off the ingredients you have from a list of 50 common items and, quick as a flash, it'll suggest a load of tasty recipes based on what you've got. It really couldn't be much simpler and is a great way of using up leftovers and cans of food approaching their use by date.
A recent Cabinet Office report concluded that the average British family throws away £420 worth of food each year.
By using the Cooking by Numbers website you can mix and match the most unlikely of foods and still come up with some mouth-watering recipes. At the end of the month I usually throw any leftover ingredients into one gigantic stew, but I'll certainly be trying out some of the menu suggestions on offer. It's like Google for food, but a whole lot tastier.
