STAFF at a laundry are celebrating after their green policies resulted in a special environmental accreditation.
Bourne Textile Services is thought to be one of a few laundries in the country to receive the British Standards Institution's Environmental 14001 accreditation.
The business, in Cherryholt Road Bourne, received the certification for managing the e
ffect it has on the environment, which not only looks at the carbon footprint but also noise levels.
Some of the policies which resulted in the accreditation include an energy saving device along with greater recycling and using thinner polythene on clean linen.
Staff have also undergone training courses and the firm will be audited every six months by the Institution.
Operations director Richard Clark worked on the accreditation with Sue Baker, officer for quality, environmental, safety and health.
Mr Clark said: "We are very proud to have this accreditation.
!I don't think there are many laundries in the country that have this."
The company provides a linen hire and laundry service to more than 300 hotels in East Anglia, the Midlands and Yorkshire.
It delivers just under one million pieces of clean laundry a week to nearly 20,000 bedrooms.
