Over dinner with some good Stamford friends the other evening, we were discussing the latest proposals outlined in last week's Mercury regarding controlling the pigeon population in town.
We seemed to remember that about 20 odd years ago the council employed skilled marksmen with high powered air rifles to cull them.

If it was allowed then, then why not try the same approach now?

There are some blooming good marksmen in the Olympics too, perhaps they could be employed.

A whole new Olympic sport, pigeon shooting in Stamford town. Bring on 2012.
