Cycling trip is outrageous

I don't quite understand how the chief executive officer of South Kesteven District Council can go on a cycling holiday for 23 weeks with or without pay.
Nor how his subordinate officers can do his job while he is away as well as their own.

It has to mean he does not have enough to do, and that they don't either. So why do we pay these three people more money than anybody else gets?

Can anyone imagine how a head teacher or a chief superintendent could just swan off on a bike for 23 weeks? They simply couldn't.

And what kind of message does this send to the rest of the workers on the district council who toil away year in and year out with nothing but their statutory leave?

I'm acutely aware the salaries of local government officers are paid directly out of council tax, just as the allowances of district councillors are.

Why are we paying out for this sort of activity and this sort of permission from the leader of the council? It's outrageous.
