RE the Hawksmead plans to build 1,000 new homes on the outskirts of Oakham: Having looked at the plan, while acknowledging there is an urgent need for new housing, we should like to make one request!
Please will the needs of the residents of Langham be considered? Since the partial bypass was opened traffic has increased through the village 100 per cent.

It takes for ever to to turn on to the A6003 from Well Street, then it is by a wing and a prayer.

As for pedestrians, it's a nightmare. Children attending the local primary school must take their lives in their hands.

Many mothers, rather than risk the situation, ferry offspring by car and who can blame them?

The request we are making is that the bypass is completed as it was originally planned actually bypassing Langham.

It would unite the village (it is at present cut in two), improve safety, reduce pollution and noise, and, most importantly, give peace of mind to residents of what was/is a lovely village.

Robert and Joy Cross
Fairfield Close,
Langham
