I totally agree with the letter from Anne Johnson regarding Barnack Road (Mercury, last week).
I have recently e-mailed my concerns to Lincolnshire County Council requesting something to be done to improve Barnack Road safety.
The 30mph speed limit should be extended, starting at the east entrance to Cummins Generator Technologies. Access s
hould also be given to off-road parking.
Because of the speed and narrower road, at times you find cycles overtaking parked cars and then cars overtaking the cyclist while traffic is coming towards you!
The south side of the road has no kerbs anymore, (as shown on the photo last week) or even grass because of constant use by traffic going into town squeezing through.
This causes large puddles to form and I'm sure that those at Burghley love having to repair their dry stone wall because of the constant waves of water every time a car goes by on wet days!
Talking of Burghley, during the recent horse trials it was much improved as all the parked cars were gone!
As the darker nights are approaching things will get more hazardous.
I do seem to recall that plans were introduced to install a cycle way along Barnack Road back in the 90s, what happened to that idea?
