I READ with interest the letter in last week's Mercury about the skateboarders from the "Caring Stamford pensioner".
What a lovely letter. I fully support the need for somewhere for the youngsters in Stamford to go, and am sure the council will say we can't afford to give them a skatepark.

But I see we have a lovely new picket fence around our police station that's hardly ever open. I wonder how much the fence cost?

Surely, the money from the fence could have gone towards the skatepark? Come on our council, when are we going to give these youngsters something to do in Stamford?

The youngsters who used to ride their motorbikes on the old quarry have been driven off.
They have taken the skatepark away, so what is there in Stamford for the youth of today to do? Nothing, except hang around in town.
