Hello from Cape Cod, Massachussets in the US.
I believe my son Corey Bryer Brown is the end of the direct Browne line in the USA.

We had a lovely visit to Stamford in 1985 to experience the family history "live". We visited Tolethorpe Manor (the family seat), All Saints Church, and Browne's
Hospital among others. Fabulous and fascinating!

And now I would like to return for more research, and perhaps to give a short history of the Brownes in the US since their arrival here in 1630 aboard the Lion.

I am a herbalist by profession, and own and operate a small organic medicinal herb farm on beautiful Cape Cod.

I would very much like to connect with another herbalist in the Stamford area if there be one.

I would also be eternally grateful if someone in the area could provide inexpen-sive accommodation, or guide me to same, in that herbalism is more of a service profession rather than a money-making one.

As a further possibility, I would be delighted to offer my services and teachings (and maybe some garden work?!) in exchange for a week's lodging.

I read a recent letter in the Mercury concerning the opening of a Subway sandwich shop in town.

My own town of Brewster (and in fact all the north side of Cape Cod) is in an "historic district" and therefore (blessedly!) very regulated as to maintaining a pleasing historic character.

A few years ago, however, a Dunkin Donuts arrived in town, and this year a Subway shop. When my son and I visited in 1985 I was moved to tears by how well Stamford had held against the tide of international commercialism.
