In terms of tourism, Lincolnshire is often described as the UK's best kept secret.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre at RAF Coningsby; county-wide museums, including Stamford Museum; Lincolnshire Archives and Lincoln Castle, the home of the Magna Carta, are some of Lincolnshire County Council's heritage sites.

These attractions draw visitors to the county from around the world, creating jobs, and generating income for the county council and the local economy.

Without consultation, publicity or warning, the county council reduced the opening hours at all the the county council heritage sites in advance of the May Bank Holidays and the summer season, with effect from May 1.

This reduction of opening times, which restricts access to the county's treasures, visitor attractions and educational resources, must be Lincolnshire County Council's most ill-conceived best kept secret.
