May I offer publicly my most sincere thanks to all involved in the very successful Stamford Schools Together Festival on Wednesday last week.
As you reported we had 230 Year 4 children from seven schools (St Augustine's, Bluecoat, Bythams, St George's, St Gilbert's, Malcolm Sargent and Uffington) gather in a marquee on the Recreation Ground.

They were greeted on behalf of Churches Toge
ther in Stamford by Fiona While, the current chairman, and by the Rev Dave Maylor and the St George's Silhouettes group.

They then went to 16 workshops located in the buildings of seven Stamford churches (All Saints, Barn Hill, Christ Church, St Augustine's, St George's, St Mary's, and the United Reformed Church).

The skills they experienced were icon painting, drawing angels, making copes, drama, producing stained glass windows of acetate, paper weaving, making crosses, music, singing, dance and art, making candles, making cards and answering a puzzle trail.

I list them all to show the diversity and richness which was offerred. The workshops were led by church members, school staff members and one or two volunteers from outside.

Members of the churches also volunteered to help by manning locations, and also helping the children.

This was a large undertaking which was only made possible by the wonderful enthusiasm and commitment of all elements throughout, so my grateful and heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved.

I close by also thanking the Stamford Young People's Charity and the Stamford Church Lads' Club for their most generous support and without whom the day would have been inconceivable; and to the Somerfield store for kindly providing some of the water (for drinking) and flowers (for workshops).
