Stamford Family Fun Day and It's a Knockout 2008 was really quite the most incredible day!
We greeted about 8,000 visitors and raised £4,000 that will be put back into our local community though Stamford & District Kiwanis.

There are so many people we would like to thank and it's difficult to know where to start!

The Burghley Estate
provided us with the most beautiful setting and a perfect venue. Our main sponsors this year were Cummins Generator Technologies, who not only supported us with various outgoings but many of their staff worked incredibly hard all weekend with our event build and general assistance.

Little Tikes gave us hundreds of Little Tikes toys and equipment for the children to play on which went down a storm!

Goodwin Property Services, The Ark Nursery, St George's Church, Bullimores, Ambitions Personnel, Bowman's, Leisure Connection, Watson Mitchell Blackburn, Visions Children's Centre, V Couzens (Stamford), RA Conboy Insurance, Murray Estate Agent, Cloisters Italian Bistro and Chattertons Solicitors all gave generous sponsorships.

Grants from South Kesteven District Council and Stamford Town Council were very much appreciated.

Hereward Radio supported us through the day, Rutland Radio played a strong part in our marketing and lots of local media including the Mercury supported us through to the big day.

Many organisations gave us large discounts in order to make it possible for us to build our general infrastructure.

Ted Taylor Amusements gave us so much and a very special thanks goes to Ted and his team. Knocker, our rock cover band entertained us free of charge with some great music from the past!

Our auctioneer, local celebrity Andrew Goodacre did a sterling job on the auction and gave up his Sunday to help us.

Jenny Wright from Teenzone (Christ Church) managed our programmes for It's a Knockout which is never easy!

Hundreds of people and businesses made this event possible. Unfortunately we cannot list everyone but we know that without their support and excellent community spirit this event would not have been possible.

Our team of volunteers made up of Stamford & District Kiwanis representatives, Cummins Generator Technology team and other local volunteers who gave up their Saturday and Sunday worked so hard until the last visitors left our site.

Volunteering can be quite tough but the general feedback demonstrated how rewarding it is to do something for others that benefits so many families.

We aim to give as much as possible to our visitors, we do not charge an entrance fee or parking. The large majority of children's activities were free of charge which made many families very happy!

It really is very moving to see so many families having such a great time in our beautiful park.

Finally I would like to say thank you to all our visitors for attending this event and giving so generously.

This is an event that we will be aiming to keep on our calendar for many years to come but it will only be possible if we continue to receive the same support we have had this year. On behalf of Stamford & District Kiwanis, thank you to everyone who took part and attended this wonderful day.

Can we through your page say thank you to all those who arranged the fun day at Burghley Park on Sunday last week

We had a great day out, especially Holly who at two-and-a-half years went on lots of rides then had fun playing on the equipment set up for the younger children – we had a job to drag her away! There is obviously a lot of hard work getting such a day organised so congratulations to the organisers as it was a great success.

Stamford
