They should be ashamed

The Government has quite rightly capped the police authority at 26 per cent.
This will save the average household £70 this year.

The cost of rebilling all households in Lincolnshire will be in excess of £600,000.

This money could have been spent on policing! Those responsible for this situation are the six Conservative county councillors who are members of the police authority, among them Stamford's Brian Sumner.

The only contribution these councillors made when this item was debated at county council on Friday last week was them voting not to censure themselves.

They should hang their heads in shame, if they had opted for a more sensible increase the authority would not have been capped and a better result obtained.

Coun Sumner contributes nothing to the benefit of the people of Stamford and should resign. I trust at least, that he will not stand for re-election next year.

Bill Turner,
Town councillor (Lab),
Falkirk Close,
Stamford
