I would like to congratulate all those responsible for returning the Mid-Lent Fair to the centre of Stamford.
In particular Nick Vass of SKDC and the showmen who have shown great patience during the protracted negotiations.

At the official opening on Monday evening I was heartened to hear the many positive comments from visitors, the best street fair in the country.

Of course how different it could have been had the minority within our midst won the day to prevent the fair returning to Red Lion Square and the Sheep Market.

We must remain vigilant to protect traditions in Stamford. Well done to all concerned.

David Brailsford
Carisbrook Road,
Stamford
