A dancer has performed before an audience of 4.5 million viewers as he helped a television star win Let’s Dance for Comic Relief.

Former Bourne to Dance student Freddie Huddleston, 23, coached Coronation Street star Antony Cotton to victory in the BBC’s fundraising show as part of Red Nose Day.

Freddie, who also co-choreographed the toe tapping routine, danced alongside the actor as one of his backing dancers, and was instrumental in Antony’s return to tap dance for this show.

Former Bourne Academy pupil Freddie, of Corby Glen, began his dance training at Bourne to Dance age nine and continued until age 16.

Dance teacher Denise Delieu: “We are really proud of him. He is absolutely soaring at the moment.

“He is a real role model to the students at the school. He always gave 100 per cent when he came to dance class. He had a real hunger for it.

Freddie is returning to Bourne to Dance in Cherry Holt Road, to lead a performance workshop of the award-winning Matilda the Musical for young dancers aged eight to 13 which will run on April 8.

The workshop is open to any pupil interested in musical theatre and dance, For older students aged 14 and over, Freddie will also be running an audition workshop on May 4 for those who are interested in entering the performance industry.

Freddie, who has started a tap company called Total Acoustic Precision, has also agreed to specially choreograph a routine at the next Bourne to Dance Showcase performance.

At the event 12 past pupils who have gone on to train and dance professionally at colleges including Elmhurst Ballet School, Tring Park, Ballet Rambert and London Studio Centre, will perform along with current students.

The showcase will be held at Bourne Academy on May 25, tickets available from Bourne to Dance.
