Keep your children busy this half-term

YOUNGSTERS have plenty to keep them busy during the half term week from Monday, February 13, to Friday, February 17.

A range of top sports coaches are running workshops for children to show off their skills.

One Touch Football Soccer Schools will run for boys and girls aged four to 14 across the area.

Courses will run at Stamford Cricket Club on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Deeping St James Community Primary School on Tuesday and Wednesday and at Bourne Recreation Ground on Thursday and Friday.

Courses run from 10am to 3pm and cost £12 for the first day and £10 every day thereafter. Visit www.onetouchfootball.co.uk to book.

Leicester Tigers coaches will come to Oakham RFC all week to run workshops for contact rugby players from under 9s to under 16s. Visit www.leicestertigers.com to book.

And football freestyle champion John Whetton is bringing his skills to Catmose Sports Centre on Tuesday, February 14.

The course is open to youngsters of all abilities aged five to 12.

Youngsters can experience a new world during Sport Xtra’s Xperience days in Stamford and Oakham.

Children aged five to 11 are welcome on the spy, sport, detective and dance courses taking place at Casterton Business and Enterprise College and Catmose Sports Centre. The sessions take place from Monday to Thursday and run from 9.30am to 4pm.

Active8 is running half term sports days at Copthill School in Uffington from 9am to 3.30pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The sessions cost £15 for children aged five to 11 and will combine a range of sports and activities. To book or for further information call Mark Brice on 07843 109792.

Wildcats Theatre School has a full programme of activities lined up for children aged five to 16 at Stamford Arts Centre.

On Monday Winston from Pineapple Dance Studios will teach a day of hip hop dance. On Tuesday there is a Happy Feet workshop for the younger children.

A Harry Potter workshop on Wednesday will be followed by a Wicked and Wizard of Oz Masterclass on Thursday and the week will finish with a Bollywood party on Friday.

There are also activities in Oakham with a Disney workshop, Create a Pop Video and a three-day Jungle Book special. For more information or to book go to www.wildcatstheatreschool.co.uk.

Workshops for young artists will be held at St Gilbert’s Primary School in Stamford from Monday to Wednesday. The sessions cost £15 per day and £40 for three days. To book call Lisa Jackson on 07742 967195 or e-mail Lisa.Jackson@bluecoat.lincs.sch.uk.

And the Deepings Youth Centre is holding a range of activities during the week. On Monday the centre will host graffiti art, a pool competition, a climbing wall, valentines card-making and more. And on Tuesday a yoga session will be followed by a table tennis tournament, drumming and more graffiti art.
