Literature at lunchtime sessions

DR JANE Mackay – well-known for her Literature At Lunchtime sessions in Stamford, Grantham and Leicester – is now moving into Bourne.

A new series of lunchtime literary meetings will begin on Monday August 4th at the Corn Exchange.

The subject is Sons And Lovers by D H Lawrence – the author's most autobiographical novel.

Set in and around Nottingham at the beginning of the 20th century, it is a social document on a lost time and lost values.

The talk will be from noon-1pm, with refreshments available afterwards. Tickets 5.50 (5) – from the Corn Exchange, Deeping Travel, Bourne or Stamford Arts Centre (01780 763203).

Future sessions will be on The French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles on Sept 1, Jane Austen's Persuasion on Oct 6, George Eliot's The Mill On The Floss on Nov 3 and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens on Dec 1.
