Red Priest - Review of concert on April 25th 2009
Music in Lyddington's 2009 season got off to a flying start with their first concert given by the extraordinary English ensemble Red Priest.
This highly talented acoustic group took a delighted audience through a carnival of the seasons as they experienced bird song in Vivaldi's 'Spring', fairies dancing in Purcell's 'Midsummer Night's Dream Suite', a cackling witches' dance and finally, skating on the ice with Vivaldi once more, as the year drew to a close.
It was no surprise that the concert was a complete sell-out and the rapturous audience was treated to outstanding musicianship, particularly from recorder player Piers Adams who has won international acclaim and was dubbed the "reigning recorder virtuoso in the world today" by the Washington Post.
Music in Lyddington's next concert on May 23rd will feature the Endellion Quartet and music lovers are strongly advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
