SUNDAY: Take a run with your dog

MAN and his best friend will be running through Fineshade Wood today as part of a CaniX cross-country event.

CaniX was held here last year and was a great success, attracting 80 pairs of people and dogs.

The event originated in Norway and is becoming popular here. It started with horses, then dogs, pulling people on skis and then the skis were replaced by running shoes. Dogs have to be kept on a lead.

Sunday's event has a choice of either a 2.5 or 5 kilometre course and starts at 9.30am.

Organiser Eileen Cook says all shapes and sizes, any breed and fitness level are welcome. Dogs have to be aged at least one and humans ten.

Entry costs 13 for adult non-members, 6.50 for under 17s but is much cheaper if you become a member. The routes are along gravelled forest rides. More details on the website www.canix.co.uk or ring 07711 818241.
