A former Stamford resident has unearthed two photos of the town from years gone by.

Jane Gale, who now lives in Lower Stondon, Bedforshire, discovered the two pictures above when looking through the belongings of her late parents, James and Nora Appleby.

The class photograph on the right features her father, second from the right and second row down. But she does not know which school it came from and is keen to hear from anyone who recognises her father’s classmates.

The second picture is more of a mystery. It shows a parade through Broad Street and is labelled “Funeral Procession of John Staunford - Friar, Oct 7, 1909”. The street is packed with people but Jane does not know anything about Mr Staunford and would like to find out more.

Interstingly, there is a sign for a skating rink on the building which is now Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre.
