Vicarage gardens opens to public

THE Old Vicarage garden at Burley near Oakham will open for the first time on Sunday in aid of the National Gardens Scheme.

Set in 3 acres, this country garden is planted for year round interest and includes a walled garden with a vine-house; herbs, vegetables and cut flowers, formal lawns and borders, lime walk, rose gardens, a rill through an avenue of standard wisteria, a wildlife garden with pond, two orchards and an ancient beech woodland.

Plants and home-made teas will be on sale. Opening times are 2pm-5.30pm and admission is £3.50 for adults, free for children. A share of the proceeds will go to Eden Valley Hospice.
