A planning proposal to build 23 houses in Bourne that was rejected last year has been resubmitted.
The application to develop land off Falcon Way will go before South Kesteven District Council’s Development Control Committee on Tuesday.
Bourne town councillors, who opposed the plans in 2013, said they were still against it.
At a town council meeting in July they said in their long-term view it was land that was ‘much needed to be utilised for employment’ and there was more than enough space for housing in the district council’s development plans.
The initial application, made by Larkfleet Homes, was refused in 2013 based on the 1995 Local Plan for South Kesteven in which the area was allocated for ‘employment development’.
Since then the policy has changed and the land is no longer allocated for any specific purpose in the development plan. Planning officers for the district council have therefore recommended the plans be approved.
The proposal is for one, two and three bedroom houses, with an internal access road providing a street frontage to Eagle Road and Falcon Way. The site will include eight affordable houses and the developer will contribute £13,383 toward an equipped play area for children.
The council has received objections from three parties. Their concerns include increase in traffic and parking, lack of play areas for children and fears that the 23 houses will be ‘crammed into an already crowded estate’.
Bourne town councillor Pet Moisey, who represents the East Ward, said the land should be used for employment, adding: “We have had a huge increase in the number of houses and there does not seem to be an equal number of developments that will create employment.”
l Larkfleet Homes will host a pre launch event for its new Baston Lifestyle Village on Monday, November 17, from 4 to 7pm at The White Horse pub in the village.
Baston Lifestyle Village, in Chesham Drive, is a new development of 49 one and two bedroom bungalows and three bedroom chalets for the over 55s.
The event will give potential purchasers a chance to learn more about the development and make an early bird reservation.
