24-hour walk in memory of Lily to help raise money

A MAN is walking for 24 hours with only a few breaks in memory of his two-day old granddaughter who died last year.

Michael Saunders, 46, of Vicars Close, Exton, and his friend Vernon Stokes who works at Nelson’s butchers in High Street, Oakham, will set off from The Green in Exton at 8pm tonight and lap Rutland Water for 24 hours.

Mr Saunders’ granddaughter Lily was born premature and died at Addenbrookes Hospital in July last year. He wants to raise money for a new unit at the hospital.

To donate visit The Horseshoe in Braunston Road, Oakham.
