THE A1 will be closed overnight on Saturday next weekend while a new bridge deck for the junction improvement scheme at Carpenter's Lodge is lifted into place.
The road will be closed in both directions between the A47 junction at Wansford and the A43 at Stamford between 6pm on Saturday and midday on Sunday. Diversions will be via the A43 and A47.

The 650-tonne bridge deck will be moved by a special vehicle and lifted into position on to the already constructed and prepared bridge supports.

Highways Agency project leader Bill Birkett said: "This will be a real milestone for the scheme and road users and local residents will soon get a real sense of how the finished scheme will look."
