A VITAL link between Stamford and Oakham reopened this afternoon.
The A606 was closed while workmen made urgent repairs to a bridge at Empingham. The road was due to be closed until Christmas but the work has been finished early.

Diversion routes for lorries and for cars have been in place while the work was carried out.

Businesses in Empingham and Whitwell have felt the effects of the road closure with one, the White Horse at Empingham, reporting that passing trade had virtually disappeared.
