Lincolnshire County Council is hoping families and people in the area will consider becoming foster carers during Foster Care Fortnight, which runs until Sunday, May 25.

The council is urgently looking for more carers, who are good listeners, resellient, flexible and optimistic, and will be holding events around Lincolnshire during the national campaign.

Executive councillor for children's services Patricia Bradwell (Con) said children in care benefit enormously from the chance to experience a stable family life.

She said: "We would be particularly interested in hearing from people who would be willing to consider older children and young people - 11 to 18 year olds - brothers and sisters, children with disabilities and children from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.

"Foster carers have a vital role to play in giving children in care the best possible start in life."

Anyone can foster as long as they are over 21 and foster carers are as diverse as the youngsters they look after.

Foster carers are given an allowance to cover the cost of caring for a child and receive training and ongoing support from the county council's fostering team.
