A VILLAGE church will holds its first wedding in 10 years tomorrow.
Volunteers at St Stephen Church in Etton have spent weeks getting the venue ready for the marriage of Emma Shaw to Matthew Shaw.
In order for the wedding to go ahead, the couple have had to get an archbishop's licence from the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury, as they live outside the area.
But for Emma, 28, whose parents Bill and Jean live in Tattershall Drive, Market Deeping, St Stephen was always going to be the perfect venue after she spotted the church when visiting her best friend in Etton.
She said: "We're having the reception at my friend's in Etton so we wanted somewhere close.
"St Stephen is a wonderful place to have a wedding although it was not easy to get permission with us living in London."
Churchwarden Anne Curwen said work to install replacement windows, which were going to be put in eventually, has been speeded up in time for the big day.
She said: "People are excited about the prospect of such a happy occasion in the village."
Vicar Hilary Geisow, who will conduct the service, added: "They've put enormous efforts into preparing for the wedding and making sure they could have it at St Stephen and we're delighted to have the couple marrying in the church."
