An 83-year-old woman had 'a substantial' amount of cash stolen from her house when targeted by a man posing to be a maintenance worker yesterday afternoon.
The woman from Main Road in Dyke, just north of Bourne, fell foul of a man claiming to be working on water pipes in her street.

The conman, described as white, in his 30s and 5ft 8in, told
the elderly victim he needed to check her taps as part of the work when calling at her house at around midday.

While the woman was distracted the man or an accomplice took what police have described as a substantial amount of money from her home.

At 1.30pm a white Renault Kangoo van was spotted in the area but it is not known if this is connected to the burglary.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Lincolnshire Police on 01522 532222 or Stamford CID on 01780 752222.
