John Baldwin, 64, of Slate Drift, Collyweston, along with friends Joe Grüen, Mel Jarvis and John Dixon, raised £5,000 for Parkinson’s Research by completing the Penine Way Walk.

Mr Baldwin was diagnosed with the neurological condition five years ago but has not let it stop him from completing a number of challenges, including the Coast to Coast walk two years ago.

The four men, who are all members of the Corby Phoenix Rotary Club, set off on the walk from Edale in Derbyshire on May 23 but sadly only three of them finished in Kirk Yetholm, Scotland, on June 8, as Mr Jarvis dropped out with a leg injury.

Mr Baldwin said: “It was an achievement and sometimes we did wonder why we were doing it.

“I enjoyed it. We went through Bronte country.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do the walk without the help of the other three.”

Mr Jarvis lives in Station Road, Gretton, Mr Grüen lives in Clay Lane, Gretton, while Mr Dixon lives in Windmill Rise, Cottingham.
