LITTER louts could be given spot fines by parking wardens.
Rutland County Council is considering giving its wardens power to fine people caught dropping rubbish.

The idea is part of a review of rubbish and recycling services in the county.

County councillors are due to discuss the idea in the autumn and once a decision is made, the scheme could be launched almost immediately.
Coun Janine Rodger (Con), who is in charge of environmental issues, said: "There isn't a particular problem with littering in Rutland.

However it's always important that we have the ability to deal with a problem if it arises.

"It's also important for us to protect the environment for the people in the county."

Rutland has three parking wardens who were appointed in March this year to issue parking tickets for drivers who flout the rules.
The wardens already have the legal power to fine people who drop rubbish but the council wants to launch an enforcement scheme in line with the latest legislation.
