MP Lembit Opik visits Bourne fundraiser

LIBERAL Democrats from the Grantham and Stamford constituency welcomed MP Lembit Opik to a fundraising dinner in Bourne on Thursday last week.
Mr Opik, MP for Montgomeryshire, visited the dinner at Fratelli's held by the district's Liberal Democrats and Lincolnshire members of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Mr Opik, whose father died from the diesease, is president of the association and spoke about the charity's work and his efforts through parliament to win funding for research into the disease

He said: "The Motor Neurone Disease Association gives so much help to people. When the MDNA helped my family it transfomed our existence so I decided to try to do something to help. I have an unshakeable belief that we will find a cure."

A raffle raised £540 for the charity.
