A BUTCHER in Stamford was chosen to make a Christmas pork pie for the Queen.
Nelsons factory, in North Street, is a member of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association, which chooses one of its members every year to make the special pie for the Queen and the Prince of Wales. It is the first time Nelsons has been chosen.

Factory managing director Guy Gilman said: "We feel very proud to have been selected to make the pork pie. It has always been well received."

The pie, a standard pork pie that can be bought at Nelsons in Red Lion Square for £2, is due to be delivered tomorrow.
