MORE than 200 horseriders trotted out on Monday for a sponsored event at Grimsthorpe Castle.
The Bythams with Careby and Creeton sponsored ride raised nearly £5,000 and the number taking part was a recordbreaker for the event which has been going for more than 25 years.
The money raised is split between the four parish churches of Careby, Creeton, Little Bytham and Castle Bytham and a charity, which this year is the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Rosemary Player, of Aunby, is secretary of the committee which organises the event.
She said: "It was very successful and our best ever sponsored ride. We had over 200 riders which is a record for us.
"Although the weather wasn't particularly good it didn't deter the riders and we were very pleased with how the day went."
Mrs Player said she was delighted to be able to give some of the cash to the Riding for the Disabled Association because it is the first time the committee has supported an equine charity.
She thanked the staff at the park and Martin Thompson, of Little Bytham, who runs the Ultimate Travel Company and donated a weekend trip to Paris for the raffle.
