GET your bike out, collect some sponsorship and join other fundraisers in a special cycle ride around Rutland Water on Sunday, October 26, in aid of the Anna's Hope charity.
If you and other participants cycle the equivalent of 5,000 miles, Anna's dad Rob will make a personal donation of £1,000 to the total raised.
Anna's Hope was launched by Rob and his wife Carol after their daughter died from a brain tumour at the age of three. The charity aims to provide better rehabilitation and support at home and in hospital for those children and young people diagnosed with a brain tumour. Fundraising efforts so far will benefit more than 300 children and young people in the region..
The 5,000 Mile Cycle Challenge starts and finishes at Whitwell. Every mile counts so there are four routes to choose from – it is 17 miles around Rutland Water, 23 miles including Hambleton Peninsula and there are shorter two or seven-mile routes for families with small children.
To enter, pick up a leaflet from outlets including Rutland Cycling or download an entry form by visiting www.rutlandcycling.com or www.annashope.co.uk.
Entrance fees including T-shirt and goody bag are £10 adults, £5 children under 16, and £15 for a family of four.
If you do not have a bicycle, cycle hire at a discounted rate is available on the day from Rutland Cycling. Those who raise money through sponsorship will also have a chance to win a child's bike, which has been donated by Rutland Cycling.
Registration on the day starts at 8am. There will be rolling start times between 9am and 12 noon although it is recommended that families doing the shorter routes start after 10am.
