Shirley Clarkson, 73, who lives in Bulwick, tells the rollercoaster ride of her role in the Paddington Bear story, Bearly Believable.

Mrs Clarkson discusses the ups and downs of the international success she enjoyed after coming up with the original and classic Paddington Bear toy design.

More than 100 people went along to the book launch in Oakham Castle including Mrs Clarkson's son Jeremy and daughter Joanna Higton.

Mrs Clarkson says the book has been well-received and is undertaking radio and television radios.

She said of the launch: "It was fantastic, I was absolutely delighted with how it went. It is a lovely venue all my friends and family were there.

"Jeremy is very proud but he is trying to keep a low profile. He's been very good and is trying to stay in the background. Both my children have been very supportive."

Publishers Harriman House said it was pleased with the launch.

Head of publicity Helen McCusker said: "We were expecting the lauch to do well and it did. We have had some good feedback and it was a nice family event."
