Two die in crash with lorry

TWO people died in a crash near Glaston last night (Thursday).
Police were called to a layby on the A47 near Glaston at about 5.25pm.

A silver Volkswagen Sharan had collided with a stationary lorry. The car ended up underneath the lorry.

The crash happened in the layby on the westbound carriageway just outside the village.

Both occupants of the car - a man and woman from Rutland - died from their injuries. The driver of the lorry was unhurt.

The incident happened at around 5.25pm on Thursday March 20, 2008 on the A47 near to Glaston.

Officers are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the car prior to the collision to contact them.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4034 Fiona Green from the road policing unit on 0116 222 2222 ext 2324 and quote incident number 568/20.
